Birthdate/Sign:
I've chosen the birthday April 11 for Yuna, making her an Aries. The following traits outlined here fit her: accepts challenges, as she takes on the task of becoming a summoner knowing how difficult it may be; takes risks for others and defends the vulnerable, because she's willing to risk life and limb to save the whole of Spira, including agreeing to marry Seymour Guado in order to bring him to justice and later to send his unsent soul; believes the best in others as she always has faith in the good in people, even if it is ends up being somewhat misguided; would give her life for a loved one because she's more than willing to sacrifice her own life to bring a Calm to the people she cares about (that being everyone); and helps others achieve their dreams, by encouraging Tidus to find his way home to Zanarkand. The particular date I've chosen is from this website, where the following traits match Yuna: Good-hearted and daring, has the potential to do a great deal of good in the world. They display the care and compassion that is often missing from human endeavors. These people like to surround themselves with partners who share their sense of commitment to their own goals, anxious to absorb the philosophies of those closest to them. Whether they are in a position to affect change on a minor level or a large scale, will do their best to make the world better through their actions. April 11 people believe in their own ability to change the world. When they are very young, they are overly idealistic, and as they mature, they retain a positive attitude. These people know how to turn a negative experience into a lesson learned. They believe in themselves and in the goodness of those around them.Tattoo: Aries symbol, inside of right wrist.
Suitability:
Despite being only seventeen, Yuna displays a maturity well beyond her years. As someone who has acquiesced to the fate of someone who has become a summoner, she seems to have a very clear view of the world and her place in it as well as the responsibilities on her shoulders. She understands her importance to the world, the hope she and other summoners bring to it, and does not take issue with sacrificing herself for the good of humanity. While, like most teenagers, she's prone to bouts of selfishness (momentarily wishing to abandon her pilgrimage in order to "see Zanarkand" with Tidus), unlike most teenagers, she's quick to right herself and continue on about her quest. Acknowledging the things you want and desire in life but turning from them knowing you have a task to complete shows a great deal of self-restraint, and therefore, maturity. She takes on the burden of the world's well-being and greets it, in return, with a smile.Power:
While she's not had much of a chance to be on her own in the world without close friends and 'family' to support her, Yuna is a well-grounded young woman who knows how to take care of herself. Even when faced with great adversity, her strength and determination only hardly falter. When she is kidnapped and trapped (seemingly) alone underground in the al Bhed home, rather than give up or feel helpless, Yuna decides to fight her way out, asking for assistance from her Aeons and using the powers at her disposal to help her.
As far as sexual situations go, in canon Yuna has yet to experience anything of he sort; despite having fallen in love with Tidus during her pilgrimage, there was hardly any time for romance, let alone anything else. When faced with the situation, she may be embarrassed, but she would face it with the levelheadedness she faces the rest of her problems with.
In Final Fantasy X, other than being the summoner, Yuna also serves as the party's white mage and specializes in healing and protective magic. One of her spells is Regen, a spell that, when cast, causes a status that will continually restore small amounts of HP to the person it was cast on. For the purpose of Zodion, when cast, Regen would heal the wounds of the person it was cast on for a period of time, say 5 to 10 minutes, and could only be cast very sporadically, maybe once every few hours. The healing granted with the spell would be enough to keep most fighters on their feet unless seriously or mortally wounded.Personality:
As she continues to worship, I'd like for Yuna to gain more spells, rather than just powering one spell up— which is why I've chosen a somewhat lower-level spell for her now, even though, from her canonpoint, it's likely she would have her entire portion of the spheregrid unlocked.
✖ SAMPLES:❝ The people and the friends that we have lost, or the dreams that have faded... Never forget them. ❞
A summoner makes sacrifices; in order to bring about peace to the land of Spira, they must go through various cloister trials as they travel the land. As they complete them, they gain the ability to summon Aeons, powerful creatures that aid them in the fight against Sin, a beast who attacks Spira at random. Its defeat is not one easily attained— in order to end the terror and bring about a Calm, a time of peace within the land of Spira, summoners must summon what is known as the 'Final Aeon,' and, in doing so, sacrifice not only one of their guardians, but their own lives. Believing Sin to be their punishment for the use of sinful 'machina,' followers of Yevon began cycles of raising up summoners in order to defeat it and bring about Calms. However, each Calm lasts a short ten years, and as such, summoners continue to be sacrificed.
Yuna's father, Braska, was one such summoner. After losing his wife and Yuna's mother, an unnamed al Bhed woman, during an attack by Sin, he vows to stop Sin and keep people from suffering lost the same he and his daughter had. He makes it his goal to bring Spira to an eternal calm, hoping to keep Sin from every being resurrected. However, despite the fact that he did manage to defeat Sin, becoming only one of four summoners to have ever done so, he was not able to create the Calm he'd wanted. Braska sacrificed himself to perform the Final Summoning, and his guardian, Jecht, the father of Tidus, who become the Final Aeon, lives on inside of Sin, becoming part of it. His other guardian, Auron, mortally wounded but carrying out Braka's last request to have Yuna taken to the island of Besaid in order to live a quiet life in the peacetime he'd created, dies on the way, passing on this task to Kimarhi Ronso, who stays with Yuna as a protector and guardian on through her own pilgrimage.
Ten years after the death of her father and at the end of Braska's Calm, Yuna decides, despite the protests of her surrogate siblings Wakka and Lulu, to become a summoner. Though she knows the sacrifice she must make, she feels it is her duty to bring peace once more to Spira. She is, in that way, a very self-sacrificial type of person, always putting the happiness and well-being of others ahead of her own. Her own desires and needs always take second place. She shows this trait several times throughout the game, often leaning away from following her own heart in order to do what she feels is her responsibility to the world as a summoner. This feeling of commitment comes partially from being the child of a High Summoner, but also because she truly wants to help people. To the people of Spira, she, as well as other summoners, had become a "ray of hope," Spira's only gambit for living in a world not plagued by the fear of Sin. Being the daughter of a high summoner, she feels somewhat pressured not to fail, and though she feels the weight of what she needs to do, she tries her best to hide it from the people she cares for.
Yuna is a kind, calm and polite young woman. She is soft-spoken and always gives people above, at, and even below her position their properly due respect— and perhaps sometimes even more respect than they deserve. She is often underestimated by her peers, particularly for having such a large party of guardians. However, when tested, Yuna always shows herself to be just as powerful a summoner as any other. Strong and determined though she is, she knows that with the help of her Guardians, her family, will support her when she needs it, letting their strength carry her through some of her harder times. She is devoted, not just to saving Spira, but to protecting the people she cares for... Even if she sometimes does things they don't approve of.
Though she knows full well that she could turn from her mission whenever she wants to (and even perhaps with the encouragement of her Guardians, who are like family to her), Yuna never turns from her goal for long, only occasionally giving herself over to her own selfish desires before rethinking it and continuing on with her task. Yuna's conviction is strong, her strength quiet but her determination unwavering, and deterring her from her path ended up taking a great lapse of faith.
During the ten years of peace enjoyed by Spira, she'd become, like her father before her, a devout follower of the teachings of Yevon. That faith is shaken to the core when she discovers that Maester Seymour, a priest of Yevon who has a great deal of influence in Spira, is revealed to have impure intentions; rather than wishing to save Spira, he, in fact, wishes to destroy it by becoming Sin, and has even gone to the lengths of killing his own father to accomplish that goal. When Seymour proposes to Yuna, in order to emulate the marriage of the first high summoner Yunalesca (who she was named after) and the first 'Final Aeon,' Zaon, she takes some time to mull it over, knowing that seeing two summoners, the High Summoner's daughter and a Maester of Yevon, unite in marriage would bring a great deal of hope to the land, and give them reason to celebrate. When his deeds are revealed to her through Jyscal's sphere, Yuna agrees to the marriage— intending to stop Seymour before it is too late. They battle, and while Seymour is killed, the party is attacked and split up. Yuna is taken to Bevelle to marry an unsent Seymour, however only doing so in order to get close enough to Seymour to perform a sending (another of a summoner's duties, sending all of the souls of those who have passed on to the Farplane) on him. This is just another example of Yuna's self-sacrificial nature, putting her own well-being at risk in order to save Spira. Yuna and her guardians are branded traitors to Yevon. Yuna is put on trial and truly learns the hypocrisy of the thing she'd put so much faith in.
Despite her shaken faith, Yuna decides to continue on her path; though she has started to give herself over to feelings that she's been developing for Tidus, the protagonist, she quickly decides against running from her task, though she does break down into tears and show an emotional side to herself that not many have had the chance to see. Yuna is described as 'easy to read,' despite the fact that she tries hard to keep up a smile, even when she feels sad— something she'd taught herself. She never wants people to see the weight of her task on her shoulders, and in fact, tends to bear the burdens of others (as evidenced later in Final Fantasy X-2, Yuna has a very hard time saying 'no' to people). She hopes to be a pillar of strength for the people fo Spira, and hides her emotions deep down. She wants her pilgrimage to be "full of laughter," even at the expense of not letting Tidus know that the 'end' he was hoping for would mean that she would die. The feelings of attraction that she'd felt for him and buried again under her sense of duty, and she carries on. Abandoning all that she believed, Yuna carried on in the name of the greater good, and saving Spira.
Ending up shirking tradition, Yuna and her guardians decide to find a way to save Spira without having to make sacrifices, and to end the "spiral of death" brought on by Sin's endless reincarnations. Despite the fact that they succeed, Yuna ends up losing something precious— Tidus, who was only a dream of the Fayth. After Sin is defeated, for a moment, she refuses to believe that after all of what they'd accomplished together he would have to leave. Yuna confesses her love for him, showing another burst of emotionalism as she runs after him. Despite having brought the world Eternal Calm, she still feels a great deal of loss over him.
Despite her soft-spoken and polite nature, Yuna isn't afraid to stand up for what she believes in. She is very good at speaking her mind, and never hesitates a moment when she feels there is something that needs to be said. She is a humanitarian at heart, and honestly believes the best in people, even if it makes her seem naive, like believing a young man who said he came from a time that was long-gone (even if he was technically telling the truth). Despite all of this, there are times where she seems somewhat like a pushover, and she often gets flustered and apologetic when she may come off as rude or above her station.
She can also be serious, almost to a fault, though there is a hidden playful nature to her that shows itself whenever she finds herself alone with people her age, or when she's trying to cheer someone up. Yuna is still young, and still maintains a great deal of the whims of youth, as well (though she usually turns away from them). She is socially conscious enough to know when she's embarrassing herself. Tidus brings out a lot of that in her, which results in her growing feelings for him (and a very awkward laughing scene).
What Tidus also inspires is Yuna's will and want to live for herself; with the threat of Sin gone from the world, she is more resolved to live her own life, and to live for herself, rather than for other people. Despite the fact that she'd had to lose him in order to do it, she remains steadfast to her determination to make the most out of her life, which includes, in the next game (though this is after the canonpoint from which I am taking her), joining a group of 'Sphere Hunters' in order to search for Spheres that might contain clues to Tidus' whereabouts, after finding a sphere containing a recording that pictures someone who resembles him.
Overall, Yuna is a fighter; someone who stands up for what she believes in, regardless of the circumstances that she may be faced with. She is willing to sacrifice herself for the world, and willing to fight as hard as she can to bring people the Eternal Calm they deserve, even at great personal loss. She is someone who was devoted to saving the people of Spira, no matter what.
"Zodion" First-Person Network Entry:
[ There's a young woman fretting over the recording for a moment, turning and glancing at something offscreen before she straightens up, hands clasped in front of her, shoulders straight back and sounding like the picture of politeness when she speaks. ]"Zodionlogs" Third-Person Prose Entry:
I hope I have this working. It's... Not exactly what I'm used to— it's a little... Flat. [ There's an amused hint to her voice before she continues, taking on a tone and look of directness (albeit still soft-spoken) once more. ] I've already been told a bit about this place, but... I still have some questions that haven't been answered, and, I would greatly appreciate anyone who would be willing to let me ask a few of them.
I'm also looking for some people... Lulu, Kimahri, Wakka and Rikku... If any of them are here, if you could let me know, it would be a great help!
And, I suppose... If... You are here...
[ Her expression fades a little and she turns her head away from the camera momentarily, in order to better hide her expression before she resumes smiling. Maybe it won't mean anything, but...
She brings her fingers to her lips, squeezes her eyes shut— and whistles.
Once she's done, she stills herself, waiting for a few moments almost expectantly before seeming a little flustered as she reaches to shut off the feed. ] I'm sorry!
Her speech was over. Yuna let her eyes close, let the meaning of her words wash over her one last time.
Spira was safe; though she'd never before stopped to think that she'd get to see her own Calm, she'd often wondered what it would be like once it came. And yet, here it was, right before her: a world safe from a great many dangers, but most importantly, a world free from the 'spiral of death' that had plagued it for so long. Too long. Everyone had sacrificed much to make this happen— even she had, and her father before her. But now... They could all live in peace, without having to give up anything— loved ones, dreams... Anything.
Even as she turned from them, she could hear their jubilation, comforting her as she stepped away. Whatever would await her now, she didn't know— everything she'd expected to miss awaited her, and yet she didn't even really know how to begin. Where to begin. She had her own life to live, now, not for the sake of Spira and its people, but... For herself. It all seemed a little difficult to face, without him by her side. He'd been the one to truly convince her that there would be some other way, after all. It seemed wrong to have everything they'd fought for without him to share it with.
Weight settled in on her shoulders, the feeling of having lost so much since the day before finally settling in. She'd spent hours on the dock whistling, hoping he'd hear. As much as she'd known it wouldn't work, she couldn't help the glimmer of a hope that maybe... She'd hear something back.
Exhaling softly, Yuna finally opened her eyes, expecting to find the warm faces of her guardians who'd been standing behind her— but instead, greeted with the sight of set of stone arches raised on a platform. "What—" a quick turn revealed nothing behind her, as well, a shock of panic running through her. She'd just been in Luca, a moment ago, the people of Spira around her, friends and family at her back— and now, she was all alone, and... Oh, she didn't know where. "This can't be, I—" Where was everyone? "Wakka? Lulu? —a-anyone..."
No answer, the area around her quiet enough to make her heart race. She'd never seen anyplace like this on Spira, nor had she ever simply disappeared from where she'd been moments prior. Yet... Just as panic coursed through her, so did something else. Something telling her to keep going, to move forward toward the altar laid out before her. There wasn't much else to be done. With hesitance, she took a few steps forward, up onto the stone and through the center arch. Just through it, she spotted a stone podium, topped with a tiny box, emitting the strangest glow. Almost immediately as she'd noticed it, however, she was stopped short by a prick of pain in her chest. Yuna pressed her hands to it, gritting her teeth, turning to take a step back away from what she'd assumed was the source— only to be met by a wall of water. A quick glance around showed that it arced over her head like a dome, almost like half of a Blitzball playing field, but hollowed out and dry on the inside. The pain slowly fading, she caught a glimpse of herself in the reflection the water created. Beneath her hands, glowing, was a symbol— one she'd never seen before, but also bore a strange familiarity as well.
♈.
It was similar in shape the necklace around her neck, but also to something else— a symbol deeply burned into her memory. The Zanarkand Abes... Quickly, she turned back around the face the pedestal, marching up to it with a feeling of anxiety... Or maybe even excitement. If this is what you have to show me, then, maybe... The little box was no longer glowing, and, slowly, she lifted a hand to tilt it back and open it. There was a strange device settled inside, some sort of machina she was certain she'd never seen, as well as... "A letter? For... Me?" Surely enough, her name was wrtten across the folded paper. Steeling herself, she lifted it slowly to read, quietly, to herself.
"Dearest Yuna, It is our greatest pleasure and honor to welcome you to Zodion... Zodion? So this is..." She spared the area around her a glance. It would explain why she'd never seen it before... She'd never even heard of someplace called Zodion. Turning back to the letter, she continued to read. For your strength and determination, you have been chosen among all the times and galaxies to aid us... As her reading continued, so did her brief excitement fade. Twelve of great power? Worship? And a letter signed with eleven other symbols along with the one she'd spotted glowing on her chest. "So this wasn't..." She felt a little silly for thinking something like it could even be possible, but for a moment she'd thought perhaps he had been the one to bring her here. Shaking her head, just as much at herself as her predicament, she re-folded the letter and lifted the tiny, compact machina from the box.
She didn't know who or what she was supposed to protect, or how she would do it, but she wasn't interested in worshiping in any more false religions. She needed answers... And it seemed she'd need to find them herself.
